Job Summary

St. Ambrose Charity Hospital is seeking to recruit a competent and dedicated Laboratory Technician to support the delivery of quality diagnostic services. The successful candidate will be responsible for conducting laboratory tests, maintaining laboratory equipment, ensuring quality control, and providing timely and accurate test results to support patient diagnosis and treatment.

Key Duties and Responsibilities

• Conduct routine and specialized laboratory tests according to established procedures.
• Collect, receive, label and process patient specimens for analysis.
• Prepare reagents, solutions and laboratory materials required for testing.
• Operate, maintain and calibrate laboratory equipment and instruments.
• Record and interpret laboratory findings accurately.
• Ensure proper storage and handling of laboratory samples and reagents.
• Maintain laboratory records and prepare reports as required.
• Observe infection prevention and biosafety standards at all times.
• Participate in quality assurance and quality control programs.
• Assist clinicians by providing timely laboratory results for patient management.
• Monitor laboratory supplies and report stock requirements.
• Support health outreach activities and other hospital programs when required.

Qualifications, Skills and Experience

• Diploma in Medical Laboratory Technology from a recognized institution.
• Must be registered with the Allied Health Professionals Council.
• Previous experience in a hospital or clinical laboratory setting is an added advantage.
• Knowledge of laboratory procedures, quality control and diagnostic techniques.
• Ability to operate laboratory equipment effectively.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
• Excellent communication and teamwork abilities.
• High level of integrity, accuracy and professionalism.
• Good record-keeping and reporting skills.
