Job Summary

St. Ambrose Charity Hospital is seeking to recruit a qualified and experienced Anesthetist to support surgical and medical procedures by administering anesthesia and monitoring patients before, during and after procedures. The successful candidate will play a critical role in ensuring patient safety and comfort while maintaining high standards of clinical care.

Key Duties and Responsibilities

• Assess patients before surgery and determine appropriate anesthesia plans.
• Administer anesthesia and monitor patients during surgical and medical procedures.
• Monitor patients’ vital signs and respond promptly to any complications.
• Provide pre-operative and post-operative patient care related to anesthesia services.
• Prepare and maintain anesthesia equipment and medications.
• Ensure safe administration of anesthetic agents in accordance with established protocols.
• Work closely with surgeons, nurses and other healthcare professionals during procedures.
• Maintain accurate anesthesia records and patient documentation.
• Participate in emergency response and critical care situations when required.
• Ensure compliance with infection prevention and patient safety standards.
• Monitor inventory levels of anesthesia supplies and report shortages.
• Participate in continuous professional development and quality improvement initiatives.

Qualifications, Skills and Experience

• Diploma in Anesthesia from a recognized institution.
• Must be registered with the Allied Health Professionals Council.
• Minimum of two (2) years of relevant work experience.
• Strong knowledge of anesthesia techniques, medications and patient monitoring.
• Ability to work effectively in operating theatre environments.
• Excellent clinical judgment and decision-making skills.
• Good communication and teamwork abilities.
• Ability to remain calm and effective in emergency situations.
• High level of professionalism, integrity and attention to detail.
