Job Summary

St. Ambrose Charity Hospital is seeking to recruit a compassionate and professional Registered Nurse to provide quality nursing care to patients. The successful candidate will be responsible for assessing patient needs, administering treatment, monitoring patient progress, and promoting health and wellness in accordance with established nursing standards and hospital policies.

Key Duties and Responsibilities

• Provide professional nursing care to patients in accordance with nursing standards and hospital guidelines.
• Assess, monitor and record patients’ conditions and progress.
• Administer medications and treatments as prescribed by medical practitioners.
• Assist doctors and other healthcare professionals during examinations and medical procedures.
• Maintain accurate and up-to-date patient records and nursing documentation.
• Provide health education and counseling to patients and their families.
• Ensure proper infection prevention and control practices are followed.
• Respond promptly to patient emergencies and provide appropriate nursing interventions.
• Prepare patients for diagnostic tests, treatment procedures and surgeries.
• Monitor and maintain nursing supplies and equipment.
• Participate in ward rounds and multidisciplinary healthcare team meetings.
• Promote patient safety, comfort and quality healthcare services.

Qualifications, Skills and Experience

• Diploma in Nursing or Bachelor of Nursing Science from a recognized institution.
• Must be registered with the Uganda Nurses and Midwives Council.
• Minimum of two (2) years of nursing experience in a reputable health facility.
• Strong patient care and clinical nursing skills.
• Good communication and interpersonal abilities.
• Ability to work effectively in a team environment.
• Excellent organizational and record-keeping skills.
• Ability to work under pressure and handle emergency situations.
• High level of professionalism, compassion and integrity.
