Job Summary

St. Ambrose Charity Hospital is seeking to recruit a competent and detail-oriented Pharmacy Technician to support the provision of pharmaceutical services. The successful candidate will assist in dispensing medications, managing pharmaceutical inventory, maintaining accurate records and ensuring compliance with established pharmaceutical standards and regulations.

Key Duties and Responsibilities

• Receive, store and dispense medicines and medical supplies as prescribed.
• Assist pharmacists and other healthcare professionals in providing pharmaceutical services.
• Maintain accurate records of drugs dispensed and stock movements.
• Monitor pharmaceutical inventory and report stock shortages or expiries.
• Ensure proper storage and handling of medicines in accordance with established guidelines.
• Prepare and label medications accurately for patients.
• Provide basic information to patients regarding medication usage and storage.
• Conduct routine stock counts and support inventory management activities.
• Ensure compliance with pharmaceutical regulations and hospital policies.
• Maintain cleanliness and organization of the pharmacy department.
• Assist in preparing reports and maintaining pharmacy documentation.
• Support continuous quality improvement initiatives within the pharmacy unit.

Qualifications, Skills and Experience

• Diploma in Pharmacy from a recognized institution.
• Registration with the National Drug Authority (NDA) and/or Allied Health Professionals Council is required.
• Previous experience in a hospital or healthcare facility is an added advantage.
• Knowledge of pharmaceutical practices, drug dispensing and inventory management.
• Strong organizational and record-keeping skills.
• Attention to detail and accuracy in handling medications.
• Good communication and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team.
• High level of integrity, professionalism and confidentiality.
