Job Objective
The Relationship Manager – Commercial Banking will drive commercial banking growth through client acquisition, portfolio management, business development, and relationship management while achieving the bank’s strategic objectives and performance targets.
Key Duties and Responsibilities
- Drive client acquisition and manage existing commercial client relationships in line with the bank’s business development strategy.
- Generate new business opportunities and achieve defined sales targets while managing and growing an existing customer portfolio.
- Conduct customer site visits to assess business operations, premises, equipment, collateral, and overall business performance.
- Prepare and submit call reports following customer visits for management review.
- Recommend solutions that meet customer expectations while remaining compliant with the bank’s policies.
- Analyze market trends and customer requirements and provide suitable financial products and solutions.
- Recommend product improvements and innovations based on customer feedback and market needs.
- Enhance customer retention by serving as a single point of contact for client banking needs.
- Develop and implement sales strategies in collaboration with the Product Development Team.
- Monitor approved risk triggers, covenants, and conditions attached to credit facilities.
- Initiate recovery actions for deteriorating, watch-listed, and non-performing accounts.
- Acquire new customers and reactivate dormant customer relationships to improve deposit growth.
- Recommend the creation of viable and profitable risk assets to improve business profitability.
- Source and monitor customers’ investment and credit facilities.
- Promote and sell products tailored to the commercial sector while maintaining regular contact with key customer executives.
Educational Qualifications
- Bachelor’s Degree in Business, Finance, Economics, or a related field from a recognized university.
- A Master of Business Administration (MBA) or relevant professional qualification is an added advantage.
Experience
- Minimum of five (5) years of relevant experience in a banking environment.

- Strong reasoning and analytical skills.
