Job Objective

The Relationship Manager – FMCG will drive Commercial Banking growth through client acquisition, portfolio management, business development, and relationship management within the Fast-Moving Consumer Goods (FMCG) sector while supporting the achievement of the bank’s strategic objectives and business targets.

Key Duties and Responsibilities

  • Drive client acquisition and manage existing commercial client relationships in line with the bank’s business development strategy.
  • Generate new business opportunities and achieve defined sales targets while managing and growing an existing customer portfolio.
  • Conduct customer site visits to assess business operations, premises, equipment, collateral, and overall business performance.
  • Prepare and submit call reports following customer visits for management review.
  • Recommend solutions that meet customer expectations while ensuring compliance with bank policies and procedures.
  • Analyze market trends and customer needs and provide integrated financial products and solutions.
  • Recommend product improvements and innovations based on market intelligence and customer feedback.
  • Enhance customer retention by serving as the primary point of contact for all client banking needs.
  • Develop and implement sales strategies in collaboration with the Product Development Team.
  • Monitor approved risk triggers, conditions, and covenants attached to credit facilities.
  • Initiate recovery actions for deteriorating, watch-listed, and non-performing accounts.
  • Acquire new customers and reactivate dormant customer relationships to improve deposit growth.
  • Recommend the creation of viable and profitable risk assets to increase business profitability.
  • Source and monitor customers’ investment and credit facilities.
  • Promote banking products tailored to the FMCG sector while maintaining strong relationships with customer executives.

Educational Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Business, Finance, Economics, or a related field from a recognized university.
  • A Master of Business Administration (MBA) or relevant professional qualification is an added advantage.

Experience

  • Minimum of five (5) years of relevant experience in a banking environment.

  • Excellent interpersonal skills.

  • Good understanding of the business environment.
  • Attention to detail.
  • Strong analytical and reasoning skills.
