Available Positions & Short Job Descriptions

1. Public Health Dental Officer

Role summary: Provide preventive and therapeutic dental care, oral health education and public dental outreach to communities served by the hospital.

Key responsibilities

    <li/Assess, diagnose and treat common dental conditions (extractions, restorations, prophylaxis). <li/Deliver community oral health education and lead preventative programmes. <li/Keep accurate patient records and manage dental supplies.

Qualifications & experience

    <li/Diploma or degree in Dental Therapy/Dentistry from a recognised institution. <li/At least 1–2 years clinical or community dental experience preferred. <li/Valid practicing licence (if applicable) and good communication skills.

2. Optician

Role summary: Provide basic eye examinations, dispense corrective lenses and support ophthalmic services.

Key responsibilities

    <li/Perform visual acuity tests and basic refraction under supervision. <li/Dispense and fit spectacles and provide user guidance. <li/Maintain inventory of eyewear and optical supplies.

Qualifications & experience

    <li/Certificate or diploma in Optometry/Opticianry or related field. <li/Experience in dispensing lenses and basic refraction preferred. <li/Attention to detail and patient-centred communication.

3. Ophthalmic Theatre Nurse

Role summary: Support ophthalmic surgeries in the theatre — ensuring patient safety, sterilisation and efficient surgical workflow.

Key responsibilities

    <li/Assist the ophthalmic surgeon during procedures and prepare surgical instruments. <li/Ensure strict infection control and maintain theatre sterility. <li/Provide pre- and post-operative nursing care and patient education.

Qualifications & experience

    <li/Registered nurse with a certificate/diploma/degree in nursing. <li/Additional training or experience in ophthalmic theatre nursing is an advantage. <li/Ability to work in a fast-paced clinical environment and follow protocols.

4. Medical Lab Assistant

Role summary: Support laboratory testing, sample collection and routine lab maintenance to aid patient diagnosis and treatment.

Key responsibilities

    <li/Collect and process laboratory specimens safely and accurately. <li/Perform routine tests (as trained) and document results. <li/Maintain lab equipment, stock and quality control logs.

Qualifications & experience

    <li/Diploma in Medical Laboratory Technology or similar. <li/Experience in a clinical laboratory setting preferred. <li/Strict adherence to lab safety and quality procedures.

5. Cashier

Role summary: Manage patient billing, cash handling and basic financial records at the hospital reception/finance point.

Key responsibilities

    <li/Process payments, issue receipts and reconcile daily takings. <li/Maintain accurate and confidential financial records. <li/Coordinate with patient records and finance teams for billing queries.

Qualifications & experience

    <li/Certificate or diploma in accounting, bookkeeping or related field preferred. <li/Proven experience handling cash and working with POS or basic accounting software. <li/High integrity and attention to detail.

6. Askari (Security Officer)

Role summary: Ensure safety and security of hospital property, staff, patients and visitors; manage access control and patrols.

Key responsibilities

    <li/Guard hospital premises, enforce security procedures and report incidents. <li/Assist with crowd control and support emergency responses. <li/Maintain visitor logs and check identity where required.

Qualifications & experience

    <li/Certificate in security training or prior experience as a security guard preferred. <li/Good physical fitness and ability to work shifts. <li/Integrity, reliability and good communication skills.

7. Cleaners

Role summary: Maintain a clean, safe and hygienic environment across wards, theatres, reception and common areas.

Key responsibilities

    <li/Perform routine cleaning, waste disposal and maintain supply stocks for cleaning materials. <li/Follow hospital infection prevention & control procedures. <li/Report maintenance or hygiene issues to supervisors promptly.

Qualifications & experience

    <li/Previous experience in cleaning or environmental services is an advantage. <li/Ability to follow instructions, work shifts and maintain confidentiality. <li/Basic literacy for record keeping is helpful.
