Introduction
World Vision Uganda, a renowned Christian NGO, is looking for a highly motivated Project Officer to join our Climate Asset Management Project in Nakasongola, Uganda. Key Responsibilities
Project Implementation
- Lead the implementation of project components related to landscape restoration and climate-resilient value chain development for improved livelihoods.
- Build capacity of stakeholders and partners on technical approaches and models in line with project design and World Vision Uganda’s policies.
- Ensure the timely delivery of project activities within budget and according to set targets.
- Work with local community structures to identify technical capacity gaps and challenges to inform project planning and execution.
- Monitor and propose improvements to project implementation strategies.
Stakeholder Engagement and Collaboration
- Develop and maintain strong relationships with key stakeholders, including government officials, NGOs, private sectors, and academia.
- Participate in stakeholder engagements such as planning meetings, workshops, and inter-agency coordination platforms.
- Facilitate integration of project activities with other World Vision Resilience and Livelihood interventions and government programs.
- Organize field planning meetings with community partners to ensure effective project delivery.
Monitoring, Documentation, and Reporting
- Develop and oversee monitoring plans to ensure effective implementation and impact.
- Conduct regular site visits and joint monitoring activities to assess progress.
- Prepare and submit high-quality reports that meet donor and internal requirements.
- Share project success stories, best practices, and lessons learned to ensure continuous improvement and replication of successful activities.
Child Protection and Wellbeing
- Enforce compliance with World Vision Uganda’s child safeguarding policies at all times.
- Report and monitor child abuse cases, working with local leaders to protect children.
- Promote awareness about children’s rights, especially for the most vulnerable members of the community.
Gender and Social Inclusion (GESI) Sensitivity
- Ensure the project aligns with gender and GESI policies in all project activities.
- Support the integration of gender-sensitive practices across all project phases, ensuring the participation of marginalized groups.
Qualifications, Skills, and Experience
- Educational Requirement: Bachelor’s degree in Agriculture, Environmental Sciences, Forestry, or a related field.
- Experience:
- Minimum of 3 years in field-based project management, particularly in natural resource management, environmental sustainability, food security, and climate change adaptation.
- Experience working with International NGOs or local government agencies.
- Technical Expertise: Knowledge of policies related to climate change, agriculture, forestry, and environmental management.
- Skills:
- Strong skills in project design, monitoring and evaluation, and policy advocacy.
- Proficiency in donor relations and evidence-based programming.
- Interpersonal and communication skills in both English and at least one local language.
- Ability to ride a motorcycle (with a clean, valid license).
