Job Summary

Our client in the Agribusiness industry is seeking to hire an Operations Manager (OM) responsible for the day-to-day operations of the business. The OM will oversee the planning and coordination of all operational activities at the plant, ensuring smooth and efficient grain purchase, handling, storage, and supply operations that meet international quality standards.

The OM will supervise:

  • Quality Controller
  • Engineers and Electricians
  • Silo Operators
  • All Site Staff

The OM will report to:

  • General Manager
  • Operations Board Committee Chair

Key Responsibilities

  • Oversee daily operations, management, and maintenance of grain handling, processing, and storage equipment.
  • Ensure proper storage, quality testing, weighing, and bagging of grain.
  • Implement security measures, processes, and procedures for grain handling and movement within the storage site.
  • Advise on grain sourcing, purchasing, and marketing strategies.
  • Ensure purchased grain meets quantity and quality requirements within set timelines.
  • Conduct periodic quality control checks (testing, weighing, and fumigation).
  • Develop and implement Health, Safety, and Environment (HSE) policies and train employees on HSE obligations.
  • Lead, supervise, and coach operational staff to meet company objectives.
  • Prepare monthly operational reports on grain inventory, supply, logistics, procurement, human resources, and safety.
  • Ensure routine and preventive maintenance of all equipment for safety, efficiency, and productivity.
  • Oversee silo maintenance and continually seek improved operational methods.
  • Perform additional duties as directed by the Board.

Qualifications and Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in Food Technology, Grain Quality Management, Procurement and Storage, or a related field.
  • Minimum of five (5) years experience in facilities operations, storage, warehousing, and bulk handling of commodities, preferably in agribusiness or FMCG.
  • Proven expertise in grain storage management, fumigation, and pesticide handling for grains and cereals.
  • Project management experience and knowledge of commercial ERP systems is an added advantage.
  • Strong analytical, planning, and organizational skills with the ability to manage operational costs in agribusiness.
  • Excellent interpersonal and supervisory skills for managing both internal teams and external stakeholders.
