Ekium Uganda Ltd as the main EITS contractor (Electrical Instrumentation and Telecommunications Systems) for the EACOP project, invites application for Site Work Coordinator with a background in Telecom & Security Equipment.


Job Description

The Site Work Coordinator will lead all telecom construction activities on-site, ensuring that installation works are performed according to technical requirements, project standards, safety regulations, and agreed schedules. The role includes supervising contractors and staffs, coordinating site activities, reviewing construction documents, and participating in all site activities (installation, hookup, pre-commissioning and commissioning activities).


Main Duties and Responsibilities

  • Supervise installation of EITS Telecom & security equipment according to approved drawings and methods of statement with all safety and technical requirements, such as Network cabinets, CCTV, ACS, PAGA, Radio, metocean, telephony, WIFI, Intrusion, Junction Boxes, cable glands etc.
  • Manage hookup activity.
  • Mechanical installation and power connection of active equipment: Network switches, servers and routers, telecom gateways, amplifiers, power units.
  • Telecom cabinet adaptation: Power cabinet modification, electrical sanity tests, circuit testing, patching.
  • Cabling and Termination: Pulling of incoming cables to network cabinets, cable gland installation and cable termination and splicing of all Telecom and security field & loose items.
  • Fiber optic splicing (up to 96 cores).
  • Supervise daily site activities, ensuring compliance with project specifications, standards, and safety regulations.
  • Review and approve method statements, commissioning procedures, Redline mark-ups, as-built drawings, and construction dossiers.
  • Inspect works and materials in accordance with Inspection Test Plans.
  • Monitor project progress against the schedule, identify slippage, and propose solutions.
  • Supervise and coordinate with the customer and Construction Contractors throughout construction and commissioning phases.
  • Participate actively in pre-commissioning, commissioning, and Site Acceptance Tests (SAT).
  • Conduct daily checks of contractor staff and work completed; maintain detailed daily progress reports.
  • Liaise with quality control inspectors and HSE officers to ensure compliance with quality and safety standards.
  • Participate in engineering and installation reviews.
  • Prepare punch lists for completed works prior to handover on CMT tool, ensuring quality requirements are met.
  • Provide regular updates and reports on site activities, issues, progress, trends, and recommendations for improvements.
  • Ensure full compliance with contractual obligations and project specifications throughout the project lifecycle.

Qualifications & Experience

  • Ugandan Citizen.
  • Degree in Electronics and Communication, IT Engineering, or a related discipline from a recognized institution.
  • Registered Engineer from Engineers’ Registration Board (ERB) of Uganda.
  • 8 to 12 years of direct experience in telecom and security system construction and installation in the oil and gas industry.
  • Solid knowledge of telecom system installation, in safe and Atex area including:
    • Radio and telecom towers systems.
    • Security and safety Systems: CCTV, PAGA, Access Control, intrusion detection systems, leak and meteo systems.
    • Networks equipment: OTN, Switches, Routers, Servers, LAN/WAN, Structured Cabling.
    • Telecom Systems: Hotline, Telephony, Satellite phone, audio/video systems.
    • Marine systems: RACON, RADAR, AIS & ECDIS SYSTEM.
  • Experience in industry best practices, systems, processes, and standards of construction.
  • Strong ability to identify installation issues and propose practical solutions.
  • Excellent communication, coordination, and reporting skills.
  • Proven experience supervising multinational, multi-disciplinary construction teams.
  • Solid background in reviewing method statements, test plans, and project documentation.
