Job Summary
The Librarian is responsible for managing the library’s resources, ensuring easy access to information, and maintaining an organized, user-friendly environment for students, faculty, and staff. This role involves collection development, digital resource management, user support, and maintaining discipline in the library.

Key Responsibilities
1. Library Operations & Management
• Ensure efficient operation of the library in line with the institution’s objectives.
• Organize, classify, and catalog library materials for easy access.
• Maintain library records and databases, updating book acquisitions and issuing library cards.
• Monitor library timings in accordance with the Directorate of Higher Education (DHE) guidelines.
• Ensure discipline, quiet study environment, and manage user footfall.
2. User Services & Support
• Assist students, faculty, and staff in finding and accessing library materials.
• Conduct library orientation sessions for new students.
• Provide information on online resources and research tools.
• Issue and track borrowed materials, ensuring timely returns.
• Address user inquiries and maintain a user-friendly atmosphere.
3. Collection Development & Resource Management
• Organize and acquire new books, journals, and digital resources based on academic needs.
• Conduct periodic stock verification and report missing or lost items.
• Write off outdated books, magazines, and journals following DHE-approved procedures.
• Manage the library budget and submit reports to higher authorities.
4. Digital & IT Services
• Oversee the usage of library computers and digital databases.
• Implement the latest trends in Library Science and Information Technology for efficient library management.
5. Administrative & Policy Compliance
• Ensure adherence to institutional policies on Health & Safety, Discipline, and Inclusion.
• Attend staff meetings to discuss library-related matters.
• Work in cooperation with faculty, school management, and other stakeholders to improve library services.
• Perform any additional duties as assigned by higher authorities or the Principal.

Qualifications & Skills
Minimum Requirements
• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Library Science, Information Management, or a related field.
• Experience in academic library management is an added advantage.
• Proficiency in library management software and digital cataloging tools.
• Strong knowledge of information retrieval techniques and online research databases.
