About the Role:

Join us as the Principal Engineer – Civil & Structural, where you’ll lead the design, construction, and maintenance of health facilities, housing units, and institutional structures. Key Responsibilities:
1. Design Supervision:
• Oversee the creation of accurate and timely structural engineering designs.
• Ensure compliance with client requirements, engineering standards, and legal regulations.
• Review and approve all design deliverables prior to submission.
2. Working Drawing Supervision:
• Supervise the production of detailed working drawings for construction.
• Collaborate with other disciplines to ensure seamless integration at the work place.
• Review and approve drawings before construction begins.
3. Construction, Rehabilitation, and Maintenance Oversight:
• Provide technical supervision during construction and maintenance projects.
• Ensure projects adhere to design specifications, quality standards, and safety regulations.
• Address structural issues promptly to maintain project integrity.
4. Contract Administration:
• Manage the administration of contracts for construction, rehabilitation, and maintenance.
• Ensure compliance with timelines, budgets, and contractual obligations.
• Monitor contractor performance and resolve disputes effectively.
5. Team and Resource Management:
• Develop performance management plans and set clear objectives for the engineering team.
• Optimize the allocation of human and material resources to meet project goals.
• Identify training needs and implement capacity-building programs.
6. Quality Assurance:
• Implement robust quality control measures for engineering services.
• Conduct regular audits and inspections to uphold high standards.
• Address quality issues with corrective actions promptly.
7. Reporting and Stakeholder Engagement:
• Prepare regular progress reports detailing project timelines, budgets, and challenges.
• Provide actionable recommendations for process improvements.
• Foster strong relationships with stakeholders, ensuring alignment and support.

Qualifications and Experience:
Education:
o Full Form V/Grade Twelve (12) School Certificate.
o Bachelor’s Degree in Civil Engineering or equivalent (Master’s Degree is an added advantage).
Experience:
o At least 6 years of experience in civil or structural engineering, with a focus on public sector projects.
o Proven ability to manage complex engineering projects and deliver high-quality results.
• Technical Skills:
o Membership in the Engineering Institute of Zambia or equivalent professional body.
o Proficiency in relevant software (e.g., AutoCAD Civil 3D, STAAD Pro).
o Strong project management, organizational, and interpersonal skills.
