Role Purpose
The Monitoring & Evaluation (M&E) Lead is responsible for designing and implementing systems for monitoring, evaluation, accountability, and learning (MEAL) across Ahaki’s academic and civil society initiatives. This role ensures:

Key Responsibilities
1. Strategy, Design & Institutional M&E Frameworks
-
Develop and refine institutional M&E strategies
-
Create results frameworks, theories of change, logic models
-
Translate priorities into measurable outcomes and data-use plans
2. Programme Monitoring & Adaptive Learning
-
Design M&E systems for education, research, policy, and advocacy
-
Manage data collection, analysis, and reporting processes
-
Build dashboards, performance scorecards, and learning briefs
-
Conduct learning reviews and after-action reviews
3. Research & Evaluation
-
Lead or coordinate evaluations, impact assessments, and operational research
-
Ensure rigorous qualitative and quantitative outcome measurement
-
Oversee external evaluations and disseminate findings
4. Capacity Building & Systems Strengthening
-
Train staff on M&E tools and adaptive learning
-
Develop templates and guidelines for monitoring, reporting, and learning
-
Promote a data-use and continuous improvement culture
5. Data Governance, Quality Assurance & Reporting
-
Lead data audits and validation processes
-
Ensure high-quality and timely donor and regulatory reporting

Contribute to publications, grants, and institutional reports
6. Collaboration & Representation

Align M&E work with institutional goals by collaborating with leadership

Represent Ahaki in M&E communities, technical groups, and evaluations

Partner with regional and global bodies to harmonize practices
Person Specification – Core Competencies & Experience
Strategic & Technical Expertise

Proven M&E strategy leadership

Ability to link academic and development outcome measurements

Skilled in both qualitative and quantitative methods
Systems & Digital Fluency

Experience with tools such as:

KoboToolbox

PowerBI

STATA

SPSS

NVivo (or equivalents)

Knowledge of academic QA systems and development indicators (e.g., SDGs)
Capacity Development & Learning

Experience in building and institutionalizing MEL systems
