REPORTS TO: CLINIC COORDINATOR

JOB PURPOSE: Watoto Church and Child Care Ministries is seeking a Medical Officer to provide medical care and consultation services across the Watoto medical centers. Watoto remains a local church committed to celebrating Christ and caring for the community, with multiple Celebration Centers and diverse initiatives including Childcare, Community, Education, and PH Radio.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Provision of clinical services to Watoto village clinics:
    • Provide high-quality, evidence-based clinical services tailored to the needs of Watoto village clinics.
    • Deliver patient-centered care, prioritizing examinations, diagnoses, treatment, and emergency response.
    • Provide patient review, patient information, and follow-up with specialists for feedback and management plans.
    • Maintain patient records adhering to Watoto Medical Services and Ministry of Health guidelines.
    • Contribute to policy development and guideline creation for standardized care.
    • Participate in developing clinical protocols, guidelines, team meetings, and assist with strategic planning.
  • Education, Teaching, and Mentorship:
    • Maintain knowledge and skills through regular training and education.
    • Evaluate clinical staff’s knowledge and practice gaps and direct specialized education and mentorship.
    • Support cross-departmental staff training and education on health topics.
    • Engage in health promotion initiatives, such as health education and immunizations.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES

  • Education and Training
    • Minimum of a Bachelor’s degree in Medicine and Surgery.
    • A Master’s degree in Public Health is an added advantage.
  • Professional Experience
    • Minimum of 2 years’ post-internship work experience in a clinical role.
    • Valid Annual Practicing License (APL) and Uganda Medical License (DPM, DPH, DCH, DPHC, DPC).
    • Clinical expertise, good communication, and problem-solving skills.
    • Adaptability and flexibility.
    • Team player, result-oriented, self-motivated, able to work with minimum supervision.
    • Willingness to travel and work in hard-to-reach areas.
    • Ability to work in a multi-cultural setting.
