Position Details
Job Title: IT Support Officer
Location: Head Office, Forest Mall Lugogo, Kampala, Uganda
Reports To: IT Manager

Role Overview
The IT Support Officer will monitor and maintain Yako Bank’s computer systems and networks, provide technical support, and resolve hardware and software issues efficiently to ensure smooth operations.

Key Responsibilities
Technical Support
• Provide first-line support for all ICT-related issues, ensuring adherence to service management standards.
• Respond to breakdowns and user queries, offering proactive and timely solutions.
• Diagnose and resolve hardware and software faults in person or remotely.
• Maintain a log of all network and infrastructure issues.
System Maintenance
• Ensure the electrical safety and smooth operation of all computer equipment.
• Support the rollout of new applications and systems updates.
User Training & Support
• Offer training and advice to users to maximize the benefits of the Bank’s systems.
• Provide technical support and allocate complex issues to appropriate ICT technical levels.
Database & Reporting
• Provide support for database management and retrieval of reports as needed.
Network & Infrastructure Management
• Oversee configuration, deployment, and management of network devices and related products.
• Collaborate with ICT staff to arrange external support for unresolved issues.

Knowledge & Skills
Technical Expertise
• Proven experience managing network devices and related applications.
• Familiarity with system planning, security principles, and software management.
• Knowledge of applicable data privacy practices and regulations.
Soft Skills
• Strong customer service orientation and teamwork abilities.
• Excellent communication skills (technical and user-friendly).
• Analytical, problem-solving, and research capabilities.
• Ability to prioritize tasks under pressure.

Qualifications & Experience
• Education: Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology.
• Certifications: Additional certifications in Server Room, Telephony, CCNA, VMWare, MCSE, ITIL, LPIC, or similar areas are advantageous.
Experience:
o Minimum of 1 year in a busy IT function.
o Banking sector experience and knowledge of banking products are desirable.
