Job Purpose:
The Head Teacher will take overall responsibility for managing the primary school, ensuring that all operations are aligned with the policies and provisions set by the Ministry of Education and Sports. This role requires strong leadership to oversee the academic and administrative functions of the school while maintaining a focus on high educational standards and fostering a positive school culture.

Key Responsibilities:
1. Administration & Management:
• Oversee the general administration and management of the school, ensuring all operational activities run smoothly.
• Develop and implement plans for both the physical development of the school and the professional growth of staff.
2. Teaching & Learning Coordination:
• Plan, organize, and coordinate teaching programs and activities for both staff and students.
• Ensure the consistent application of academic standards, and collaborate with teachers to modify curriculum and teaching strategies as needed.
3. Financial Management:
• Ensure the timely payment of school fees by all pupils to maintain the school’s financial health.
• Collaborate with the school management committee to plan, budget, and ensure the proper allocation of resources.
4. Stakeholder Engagement:
• Build strong strategic relationships with parents, Ministry of Education officials, the school board, and the community.
• Maintain transparent and timely communication with all stakeholders regarding school activities and performance.
5. Staff Supervision & Professional Development:
• Supervise and appraise all school staff, providing support for professional development.
• Create opportunities for staff to enhance their teaching skills and ensure innovative, personalized learning approaches for all students.
6. Curriculum & Co-curricular Oversight:
• Monitor and evaluate curriculum delivery, teaching, and learning practices to ensure effectiveness.
• Ensure a balanced approach to academics, co-curricular activities, and life skills development for students.
7. School Planning & Reporting:
• Develop the school’s annual work plan and calendar, ensuring alignment with educational goals.
• Prepare progress reports and summaries for presentation to the school management committee and other stakeholders.
8. Policy Implementation & Budget Management:
• Participate in the implementation of primary education sector reforms.
• Develop and manage the annual school budget, ensuring cost-control measures are in place and that resources are effectively utilized.

Qualifications and Experience:
• A Bachelor’s Degree in Education (Primary). Additional qualifications in education management are an advantage.
• A Registered Professional teacher with the Ministry of Education and Sports.
• A minimum of 12 years of teaching experience, with at least 3 years at the deputy headteacher level and 2 years in a senior administrative role (such as Head of Department or overseeing co-curricular activities).
