The Container Control Executive will oversee container movement from port exit to client delivery, ensuring accurate documentation, timely repositioning, and compliance with shipping requirements. This role requires strong analytical skills, attention to detail, and the ability to coordinate with multiple stakeholders in a fast-paced logistics
environment.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

Container Tracking & Monitoring
Monitor containers from port ext, border crossing, and delivery to client premises, ensuring timely repositioning at depots
Supervise and conduct joint surveys for damaged containers at the port or depots.
Continuously check container interchanges (EIR) and match them with physical conditions, escalating discrepancies
Track empty container pick-up readiness and push for truck allocation and loading from destination ICDS.
Liaison with Shipping Lines & Depots
Coordinate with shipping lines to update applicable free days and demurrage rates
Follow up and verify demurrage invoices before distribution with the Customer Service team.
Maintain strong working relationships with shipping lines, transporters, and depots.
Process authorization for depot changes for rejected containers or upon client request
Documentation & Billing
Process and validate guarantee forms in a timely manner.
Promptly update and generate empty container status reports from the TRAKIT system.
Conduct daily account reconciliation and ensure prompt settlement of outstanding charges with shipping lines
Process applicable container deposits and follow up for timely refunds.
Customer Communication & Issue Resolution
Promptly communicate with Customer Service and clients on potential or accumulated demurrage.
Provide shipment details and guidance to customers, ensuring smooth logistics processes.
Address and escalate container-related issues for swift resolution.
General & Ad-Hoc Responsibilities
Perform any other duties assigned by the Branch Manager.

Qualifications & Experience

Education:

Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration or Logistics Management.
Diploma in Customs Clearing & Forwarding.
Certificate in East Africa Customs Freight Forwarding Practicing Certificate.

Experience:

Knowledge of customs clearing and forwarding is an added advantage. Experience in dealing with shipping lines and depots.
Familiarity with TRAKIT, Cargowise, or similar operations systems is desirable.
