Job Title: Clinical Officer
Department: HIV/AIDS
Reports to: Facility In-Charge
Location: Bukerere, Uganda
Contract Duration: 2 Months (Short-Term)
A Clinical Officer and Lab Assistant are needed for a medical center in Bukerere.

Job Purpose
The Clinical Officer will support the Medical Officer and an experienced Clinician to deliver high-quality healthcare services.

Key Responsibilities
1. Patient Care & Treatment
• Conduct patient assessments, including history taking, physical examination, and necessary lab investigations.
• Diagnose and manage medical conditions following Ministry of Health (MOH) treatment guidelines.
• Provide emergency care and refer patients as needed per MOH protocols.
• Ensure accurate documentation of patient information in medical records and electronic systems.
• Lead TB case detection and gender-based violence (GBV) services at the outpatient department (OPD).
• Educate and counsel patients on disease prevention and health promotion.
2. Medication & Supplies Management
• Collaborate with the pharmacy team to ensure the availability of essential medicines.
• Promote rational drug use and ensure pharmacovigilance in the management of ART and outpatient medications.
3. Laboratory Coordination
• Work closely with the laboratory team to ensure timely and quality diagnostic services.
4. Training & Capacity Building
• Provide on-the-job training to interns and staff at the health center and satellite clinics.
5. Reporting & Documentation
• Assist in preparing monthly, quarterly, and annual reports under the guidance of the Medical Officer and Project Manager.

Qualifications & Experience
• Education: Diploma in Clinical Medicine and Surgery.
• Certification: Registered with the Clinical Officers Council and a valid practicing license.
• Experience: Minimum 2 years in a busy health facility.
• Additional Skills: Experience in Non-Communicable Diseases (NCD) management and migrant healthcare is an advantage.
