Edukans is committed to empowering children and youth through quality education and technical skill development. In Uganda, Edukans is implementing the Empowering Agricultural Skills for Youth and Women for Green Growth (EASY) project, funded by Enabel’s Green and Decent Jobs for Youth (WeWork EU) initiative.

1. AGRIBUSINESS PROJECT OFFICER
Team/Programme: EASY Programme
Location: Kampala (70% of time in the field)
Department: Programs
Reports to: Programme Manager
Staff Reporting to this Post: None

Role Purpose
To implement the EASY project, equipping youth and women with market-relevant vocational and business skills, financial literacy, and work-based learning in poultry and coffee value chains, contributing to sustainable economic growth and decent job creation in Uganda.

Key Areas of Accountability
1. Project Implementation
Manage day-to-day operations of agricultural skills development.

Ensure adherence to project plans and budgets.

Liaise with stakeholders (farmers, local authorities, technical experts).

Monitor progress and address challenges.

2. Training and Capacity Building
Deliver training on poultry, coffee, disease management, marketing.

Facilitate knowledge sharing workshops and peer learning.

Co-develop agribusiness incubator training with partners.

3. Monitoring and Evaluation
Collect and analyze project data (yields, income, satisfaction).

Generate reports and recommend improvements.

4. Market Linkages
Develop market access strategies for poultry and coffee.

Work with consultants and financial institutions.

Promote fair pricing and value addition.

5. Financial Management
Manage project budgets responsibly.

Prepare financial reports and track expenditures.

6. Reporting and Documentation
Maintain detailed records and prepare activity reports.

Skills and Behaviors
Stakeholder management, risk & safety awareness.

Gender-sensitive programming and child protection.

Environmental sustainability and logistics planning.

Familiarity with donor reporting and compliance.

Academic Background & Experience
Bachelor’s degree in Agriculture, Agribusiness, or related field.

Experience in poultry/coffee value chains, extension services, project management.

Proficiency in data analysis, project cycle management, and digital tools.

Additional Attributes

2. PROJECT ACCOUNTANT
Team/Programme: EASY Project
Location: Kampala (with regular field visits)
Department: Finance & Administration
Reports to: Finance & Administrative Manager
Staff Reporting to this Post: None

Role Purpose
Ensure efficient financial management of the EASY project, including budgeting, reporting, donor compliance, and support to implementing partners.

Key Areas of Accountability
i. Budgeting
Provide budget feedback to management.

Prepare monthly Budget vs Actual reports.

ii. Project Financial Management & Compliance
Review financial documents for compliance.

Follow up on financial monitoring recommendations.

Train partner finance staff.

Support capacity-building and gap assessments.

iii. Controls and Reporting
Ensure a clear audit trail and document completeness.

Implement audit recommendations.

Submit donor financial reports.

iv. Account Payables
Review and register field documents.

Prepare and process payment vouchers.

Maintain recurring expense schedules and tax payments.

v. Internal Reporting & Accountability
Compile project reports for internal/external use.

Track compliance with donor rules.

Ensure timely audit and grant documentation.

Performance Indicators
Donor compliance, timely reporting, accountability.

Implementation of audit recommendations.

Training and knowledge transfer.

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
Degree in Accounting or related field; CPA/ACCA/CIMA is an asset.

At least 3 years’ experience in NGO accounting.

Familiarity with donor compliance, IFRS, GAAP.

Strong report writing, analytical skills, and computer literacy.

Personal Attributes

Good communication, teamwork, and stakeholder management.
