We are seeking an experienced and dynamic Internal Audit Manager to lead the establishment, execution, and expansion of our internal audit function. This role is remote but requires extensive travel to CURE hospitals across Africa.
Key Responsibilities
1. Internal Audit Function Development
- Establish and implement a comprehensive internal audit framework aligned with international best practices.
- Develop audit policies, procedures, and methodologies to enhance operational efficiency.
- Design risk assessment processes to identify vulnerabilities and recommend risk mitigation strategies.
2. Internal Audit Execution & Compliance
- Conduct on-site audits at CURE International hospitals to ensure compliance with financial, regulatory, and operational standards.
- Evaluate financial controls, processes, and adherence to policies and industry standards.
3. Stakeholder Engagement & Collaboration
- Build strong relationships with hospital management, promoting open communication and cooperation.
- Work closely with cross-functional teams to ensure audit findings are addressed effectively.
- Present audit results, risks, and recommendations to senior leadership and hospital teams.
4. Audit Reporting & Follow-Up
- Prepare comprehensive audit reports with key findings and action plans.
- Monitor the implementation of corrective actions and provide follow-up support.
5. Travel & Audit Planning
- Develop a strategic travel plan to audit each hospital at least once every 24 months.
- Optimize audit schedules while minimizing travel costs.
6. Continuous Improvement & Industry Best Practices
- Stay updated with industry trends, audit standards, and regulatory changes.
- Continuously improve audit methodologies, tools, and techniques.
Required Qualifications & Skills
✅ Education & Certifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Business Administration, or a related field.
- Master’s degree or professional certifications (CFE, CPA) are a plus.
✅ Experience:
- 7+ years of progressive experience in internal audit, preferably in healthcare or nonprofit organizations.
- Strong expertise in risk assessment, control frameworks, and financial compliance.
✅ Key Skills & Competencies:
- Proven leadership and team management experience.
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and strategic thinking skills.
- Excellent communication and report-writing abilities.
Physical Requirements
- Ability to lift/move up to 10 pounds regularly.
- Must be able to sit, use fine finger dexterity, talk, and hear frequently.
- Occasionally required to stand, walk, and reach with hands and arms.
