Job Summary
We are seeking a skilled and results-driven Depot Manager to manage depot operations efficiently. This role is crucial in achieving the company’s growth goals by overseeing the loading, offloading, receiving, and storage of company products. The Depot Manager will collaborate closely with the sales and logistics teams to align operations with the company’s Route to Market (RTM) strategy.
Key Responsibilities
Depot Management
- Oversee depot operations, ensuring compliance with company strategy, SOPs, policies, and procedures.
- Ensure efficient and effective management of stock control, loading, offloading, and storage of products.
- Manage and control depot budgets, focusing on continuous improvement and cost-effectiveness.
Team Leadership
- Develop, train, and mentor sales staff to grow the customer base and enhance business growth.
- Manage and motivate the team through performance appraisals, coaching, and addressing any disciplinary actions.
- Plan work rotas, assign tasks, and evaluate team performance to maintain high employee motivation.
Sales & Market Development
- Ensure exceptional customer service by providing prompt feedback to queries and complaints.
- Collaborate with the sales team to ensure depot goals and objectives are met.
- Identify new market opportunities and advise management on market trends and customer requirements.
Operations & Reporting
- Analyze stock performance, advise on stock reorder levels, and monitor financial reports.
- Build networks and channels for new markets, contributing to company profitability.
- Compile, analyze, and submit timely depot performance reports to the head office.
Qualifications, Skills, and Experience
- Bachelor’s degree in Business Management, Sales, or Marketing.
- A minimum of 8 years of experience in a management role, preferably in an FMCG company with diverse products.
- Proficiency in MS Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and operating systems (e.g., SAP) for inventory management, budgeting, and cost control.
- Strong people management skills with previous experience in sales/business development.
- Knowledge of financial reporting, accounting, and a solid understanding of market trends.
- Excellent interpersonal, communication, and reporting skills.
