About the National Curriculum Development Centre (NCDC)

The National Curriculum Development Centre (NCDC), under the Ministry of Education and Sports, is responsible for the development of curricular and related materials for all levels of education, including Pre-primary, Primary, Secondary, and Tertiary institutions. NCDC also offers capacity-building courses for stakeholders to strengthen curriculum development across Uganda.

Job Summary

We are looking for an Assistant Editing and Publishing Officer to join our team and contribute to the editing and proofreading of curriculum materials. The successful candidate will ensure that educational content is accurate, clear, and aligned with the standards set by NCDC.

Key Responsibilities

  • Edit and proofread curriculum materials, ensuring they are free from errors and adhere to editorial guidelines.
  • Collaborate with content developers and curriculum experts to ensure the clarity and quality of educational materials.
  • Ensure all published curriculum documents are consistent, cohesive, and professional.
  • Assist in the preparation and finalization of printed educational resources.
  • Ensure all materials meet the language standards of education (including English and Literature).
  • Manage the workflow of curriculum documents through the editing process, ensuring deadlines are met.

Qualifications, Skills, and Experience

  • Honours Bachelor’s Degree in Mass Communication, Journalism, Education with English/Literature, or a related field from a recognized institution.
  • A minimum of three (3) years’ experience in editorial work within a reputable organization.
  • Strong understanding of language rules and editing standards.
  • Ability to work independently and meet deadlines while maintaining high-quality editorial standards.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and other related tools.
  • Good interpersonal communication skills and ability to collaborate effectively with a diverse team.
  • Age: 25 – 40 years.
